New Artesanal Andean Condor, Marigold Ruana made 100% by hand now available. The Andean Condor is the largest flying bird in the world, who sails the thermal winds in the mountains. They are considered sacred as they scavange and maintain the ecosystem free from disease and decay. In a way, they transform death into life. These Ruanas are made from wool that has been hand-spun from sheep, and woven through artesanal methods. Seeds are gathered from the forest at a specific time of the year to naturally dye wool this color. Making a Ruana with these traditional methods takes up to one month, but will last with proper care for generations. I still carry my grandfather’s ruana, that has a purported hundred year history.
