New Artesanal Double-Sided Ruana made 100% by hand now available. These Ruanas are made from 100% wool that has been hand-spun from sheep, and woven and naturally dyed with plants through artesanal methods. Making a Ruana with these traditional methods takes up to one month, but will last with proper care for generations. I still carry my grandfather’s ruana, that has a purported hundred year history.
About ruanas: These are garments that originate from ancestral garments first made from cotton, but with the arrival of sheep in Colombia began to incorporate wool. The iconic ruana is used to shelter oneself from the cold and wind, while not overheating the wearer.
