New Artesanal White-tailed Paramo Deer Ruana made 100% by hand now available. The deer was and is considered a sacred animal by people who have lived alongside Paramos in Colombia. These are made from wool that has been hand-spun from sheep, and woven through artesanal methods. Making a Ruana with traditional methods takes up to one month, but will last with proper care for generations.
About ruanas: These are garments that originate from ancestral garments first made from cotton, but with the arrival of sheep in Colombia began to incorporate wool. The iconic ruana is used to shelter oneself from the cold and wind, while not overheating the wearer.
